Tesla Model S

I decided that I want to buy a Tesla Model S.

It is a sweet looking car, named after one of my mentors, and helps the environment :() Ok so we all know that I really don't care to help out the environmental lobbiests (the socialists) but if I never have to get gas again, and can just gas up in my garage by plugging it in, how cool is that. This is not one of your wimpy hybrids either. This car goes 0-60 in just over 5 seconds. It can sit up to 7 people. And it has cool LED headlights. Unfortunately it doesn't come for sale until 2012, and the Mayans have told us that this is the year that the world is going to end, so maybe I will get to drive my car for a couple of months, and do my part to save the world, while the world is ending.

Great thoughts!!

I have been reading the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin and found it interesting that he had a project where he tried to do everything he could to "not commit any fault at any time." He eventually gave it up because "a perfect character, even if attainable, might be envied and hated." What a concept. Having a goal to not commit any faults. While of course this is impossible in this life the attempt is a concept worth considering. Any impossible task you attempt to do, while ultimately unfulfilled, will have the side effect of getting you closer than you were at the beginning. Whatever direction you face, you will have a hard time not being affected by the performance.

IF -Rudyard Kipling

Rudyard Kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream — and not make dreams your master;
If you can think — and not make thoughts your aim;
If your can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can walk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings — nor lose your common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And — which is more — you'll be a Man, my son!

Facebook

Have any of you ever heard of Facebook? I heard about if from many people over the past couple of months, but I fought the urge to join. In the words of a good friend, "it is a virus." It draws you in, and attaches you to anyone you ever even thought about knowing. I have found friends that I grew up with, family members from across the sea, old girlfriends even my mission president from Australia. In a period of a week, I now have 75 friends (people I have found or that have found me and we approved of the friendship.) "75" I didn't know that I knew that many people. It is kind of fun hearing about them and what they have been up to. I can brag about how cute my kids are and how much I love them. It is an interesting site.

Election Night

It is very late at night, and I am trying to decide do I work on my essay now, and stay up late, or wake up early and have the pressure of having to get it done. I think I will go to bed. Oh yeah... We have a new president. I would love to have said that I voted for the first black president. But I am more glad that I can say that I didn't vote for a socialist, anti constitution, domestic terrorist befriending, tax raising communist. But I don't really have an opinion on our new president. But at least if I ever do get laid off, I will have a huge government there ready to bail me out. I love looking at the positive side of things. :)
